COOP Agency organized and registered over 820 farming cooperatives operating in 5 Central & Southern regions of Somalia, where the landmass encompasses vast tracts of arable land and a variety of agro-ecological zones conducive to agricultural expansion. Somalia has an estimated 8.1 million hectares of fertile land both irrigated and rain-fed agriculture.

Fisheries

Somali waters are considered to be some of the richest fishing grounds in the region. COOP Agency also reached an exclusive PPP agreement with the Somali Fishery Cooperative Association intending to empower local fishery cooperatives with greater knowledge about fishing and preservation methods that could significantly increase their standard of living, fish & seafood export and boost food security in the country.

Livestock

The livestock sector is central to the economic and cultural life of the Somali people. There are large areas suitable for livestock grazing, browsing, and fodder production to support the country’s growing markets and export trade. COOP Agency having an exclusive partnership with SALTRA Union had formed the Somali Association of Livestock Traders which already united main Livestock Traders from 9 Regions.

Food Industry

The Food Industry (from production to processing to the shelves of shops and supermarkets) remains one of the most important sectors in every country. From 2018 to 2021, Somalia imported about 85% of its food “processed” from outside. To reduce this heavy reliance, COOP Agency has reached an exclusive agreement with the Self Goble company to strengthen our Agri-food value chain through high technology of food processing factories.
